Mission to Mars: Official Contest Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. MANY WILL ENTER. ONE WILL WIN THE GRAND PRIZE.
All participants must be at least 12-14 year of years of age by July 1st of 2017, a legal U.S. resident, and located in the state of Texas.
Children of the National Space Society of North Texas, affiliates, subsidiaries, and immediate family members of anyone so situated are not eligible. Board members or employees of contest prize suppliers are not eligible.
2. Contest Period
The Contest begins on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 12:00 PM Central Time (“CT”) and ends on Friday, March 31, 2017, at 11:59 AM CST.
3. Who are the Judges?
Members of the National Space Society of North Texas board of elected officials will be selected to guarantee the best quality judging experience.
4. Entry Requirements & Evaluation Criteria
(A) One entry per child.
(B) Does your project meet the contest criteria on effectively describing one of the core themes, either how your colonists will travel to Mars or how a new colony would survive a year on Mars.
(C ) Includes at least one or more presentation materials.
- Photo of a diorama or drawing
- Text or Word document
- Video hosted on YouTube or similar visualizing and describing your project
(D) Entries must be submitted (and arrived) no later than Friday, March 31, 2017, at 11:59 AM CST.
(E) Child must meet the entry qualifications.
(F) The Entry may not contain obscene, lewd or inappropriate images or content.
(G) If, in the National Space Society of North Texas’ sole discretion, the Entry appears to have resulted in any injury or bodily harm, it will be rejected. Entries must be in keeping with Sponsor’s image and may not be offensive, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or proprietary rights.
5. Submission and use of materials
You are solely responsible for your Submission, the consequences of making a Submission, and your reliance on any Submission.
The personal information you submit when you visit this Site is considered private and will not be used for any use beyond the terms of the contest or the NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS privacy policies. Submitted materials and the name of the contestant will be posted on a semi-private website for the National Space Society of North Texas Space Camp Contest page to promote the contestants submissions.
Please use only original images and content or content that is for public use for your presentation.
6. How to Enter
Submissions will be uploaded on the NSS-NT MISSION TO MARS CONTEST website at: http://nssofnt.org/mars
Entries must be submitted (and arrived) no later than Friday, March 31, 2017, at 11:59 AM CST.
7. Odds of Winning
Odds of winning will vary depending on number or participants.
8. Prize Details
Prizes are Non-transferrable and have No cash value.
No prize substitution or cash redemption, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion or as otherwise provided herein.
Winner will be notified via email & phone.
Date is subject to availability.
Prizes will be presented in person at the NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS meeting in May 2017.
One (1) winner will receive the grand “Space Academy Space Camp” prize, a 5 night, 6 day stay at the Space Academy Space Camp at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Space Camp. Tuition and tuition fees are included in the grand prize. Transportation to U.S. Space & Rocket Center Space Camp is not provided. The grand prize includes meals, program materials, and on-site lodging to the winner only.
Grand prize winner will be required to submit the Space Camp Submission Forms (http://www.spacecamp.com/traineeinfo) after notification from the National Space Society of North Texas.
Runner Up Prizes
Second and third place winners are eligible for one or more prizes from one of our sponsors. Prizes are selected solely by the NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS.
Awarding of Prizes
If your entry has been drawn as the winner of the North Texas: Space Academy Space Camp Contest, you will be contacted within two (2) weeks after the drawing by telephone or email, per the information indicated in your online entry form, to confirm your entry and eligibility.
To be confirmed as the North Texas: Space Academy Space Camp Contest winner, you may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and release form before being awarded your prize. If a North Texas: Space Academy Space Camp Contest winner does not meet all eligibility requirements, has not complied with these Official Rules, cannot be contacted, does not respond within seven (7) days from the date Sponsor first tries to notify him/her, and/or the Monthly Prize or Monthly Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such North Texas: Space Academy Space Camp Contest winner forfeits all rights to claim or receive the Prize and an alternate North Texas: Space Academy Space Camp Contest winner will be selected. By accepting the Prize, the North Texas: Space Academy Space Camp Contest winner acknowledges compliance with these Official Rules.
Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. If the winner does not claim their prize within 7 days of the announcements on April 9, 2017.
If the winner of the Grand Prize is unable to attend the Space Camp program, they are required to notify the NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS no later than May 12, 2017, so the prize can be awarded to a second place winner.
9. Restrictions and Limitations of Lability
NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS, their subsidiaries and affiliates, their officers, directors, their advertising and promotional agencies and sponsors assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for damages, loss or injury resulting from participating in any contest or acceptance or use of any prize. In consideration of participation in a contest, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the Entrant, on Entrant’s behalf, and on behalf of Entrant’s heirs, successors or assigns, administrators and personal representatives, does hereby COVENANT NOT TO SUE, FULLY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS and each of their respective direct and indirect subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and related entities, each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, insurers, attorneys and representatives, and each predecessor, successor, and assign thereof, from and against any and all actions, charges, claims, losses, costs, damages, expenses (including attorneys’ fees and expenses) and liabilities of any kind or character, whether known or unknown, in connection with, arising out of or in any way related to Entrant’s participation in any contest.
Web Site Entries. In the event a contest accepts website entries, participants must accurately complete all required fields or entry will be deemed invalid. NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS and its sponsors shall have no liability for any malfunction of the Internet, NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS website or any other computer-related processor system. NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS is not responsible for any prize offered or any aspect of any contest appearing on an advertiser’s web banner or hyperlink located on NATIONAL SPACE SOCIETY OF NORTH TEXAS website.
Publicity and Winner Publications
Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for to use the winners’ name, submission, and comments for promotional purposes of the contest in any media without limitation and without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Photos of the winner will be subject to the approval of the parent. Address or contact information of the winner or parent is not permissible for promotional purposes.
