Recap: Irving Chautauqua “Close Encounters” at the South Irving Library, June 10
Recap: the Program Librarian at the South Irving Library invited NSS Director Ken Ruffin to give his presentation Near Earth Asteroids: What Can We Do About Them? to an audience of the general public at the South Irving Library on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Perhaps 50 attendees of all ages learned that there are about a million asteroids near the Earth. Attendees also were informed about the past, present, and upcoming missions to study those Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs), options to defend the Earth from asteroid impacts, and much more.
The most interested attendees were encouraged to be guests at any upcoming National Space Society of North Texas (NSS-NT) meetings, and also to register for the NSS-NT’s TX-Central Regional Space Development Conference https://txcrsdc.org/ on November 18, 2017.
