“NASA Aero Spacelines Super Guppy” by Civil Air Patrol Major Chris Trott, May 8, 2016 Meeting
In 1959 the newly formed National Air and Space Administration was having trouble moving parts for their most massive mission – Saturn. One man, a decorated pilot, thought he could help. His crazy idea created what was then the largest airplane in the world, but it did exactly what NASA needed. 40 years later, his legacy is still flying strong – the Aero Spacelines Super Guppy.
Maj. Chris Trott, the NSS-NT guest speaker for the May 8, 2015, is an aviation professional with nearly a decade of experience in operations and line service. As a volunteer, Chris has been both a Cadet and now Senior Member in the Civil Air Patrol for 14 years, and is now the Commander of the Irving Composite Squadron. Also a Private Pilot, he enjoys sharing his lifelong love of aerospace wherever he can.
NSS-NT meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month (except December) beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the large banquet room at Spring Creek BBQ-Irving, 3514 W. Airport Frwy, Irving, TX 75062 (eastbound Hwy. 183 service road, across Hwy. 183 from the Irving Mall, just before Belt Line Rd).
